For many cancer survivors, a support group can be a lifeline.
This is the case with a local Mobile, Alabama, cancer support group
called BFF, Breast Friends Forever, which meets monthly at the USA
Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. Today, Dr. Jennifer Young Pierce
talks with Darlene Chavers, the founder of the BFF group, about how
important it is for survivors and caregivers to have a support
group in their lives. Plus, Darlene shares her advice on how you
can start a support group in your area or one that targets your
- You are not alone. Cancer patients and caregivers need to find a support group or connection to help them throughout their cancer journey.
- Sharing your feelings and concerns helps you feel better and more hopeful.
- Start your own support group if you cannot find one locally or in your specific cancer.
